James Burchett is a Family oriented Christian Conservative that represents District 176 in the Georgia State House of Representatives.
James Burchett is a partner at Burchett & Kemp LLP, a law firm in Waycross, GA. James is also co-owner of The Burchett Company. Burchett is a member of the Waycross Bar Association, Waycross Exchange Club and Waycross Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Leadership Waycross.
Burchett is a member of Indian Mound Baptist Church. He is married to Misty Thrift Burchett, they have two son’s Brodie and Beau. Burchett enjoys coaching his son’s Baseball team, watching his son's football games, working on the farm and hunting.
Burchett received a Bachelor Degree from Georgia Southern University and his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law.
Burchett was elected in 2019 to the Georgia House of Representatives. In Atlanta Burchett represents your interests, over special interests. He is a small business owner and family man who fights for conservative values and legislation.
Burchett advocates for legislation to suppress growing crime rates, to support the Agriculture and Timber industries, to fully fund Education, to improve access to Rural Broadband, to construct Transportation Solutions and to Simplify Health Care.
Burchett was named in 2021 the Chairman of the Judiciary (Non-civil) Committee. Being named a Chairman, after only one full session, is a testament to Burchett's hard work and reputation.
Burchett was elected among his peers in the Majority Caucus to Majority Caucus Whip in 2023. The whip is responsible for working with the Caucus members and Caucus Leadership team to assure the Caucus Priorities are successfully passed through the legislative process.
